Reiki Training

Barefoot Soul Reiki Academy

Our Reiki Training is unique in that it is delivered by Andi and her husband & business partner Neil. We have both followed a similar spiritual path whilst fulfilling a career within the NHS. We have worked hard to ensure our students understand not only the functions of the physical body, but how these relate to our emotional health and spiritual health and vice versa. We have successfully created a bespoke training that blends the science of energy healing with the spiritual aspects of self development, whilst honouring the traditional Usui Reiki teachings. We are the only Reiki training centre in Shropshire to achieve accreditation and verification with the UK Reiki Federation and the CNHC, so you can be confident you are in safe hands.

We welcome you to our home, our beautiful Sanctuary, and our Reiki family.

Our accredited 9 month programme is second to none. Here's how it works:

Reiki 1 must be completed first. (If gained elsewhere, proof of lineage must be provided).

Reiki 2 is completed over 2 days face to face.

A further 3 modules are completed over 6 days & maybe taken in any order.

Complete 75 treatments (40 written case studies), written assessment and professional portfolio.

There is an option to study this programme for personal development only, without case studies and excluding the business module.

Reiki Level 1 - 2 days

Reiki Level One is primarily about self-healing and is the introduction to this beautiful energy therapy. You will learn how to treat friends, family, pets, and plants too as well as an introduction to chakras, ethics and consent, contra-indications and much more! On day 2 you will have the opportunity to give and receive a full reiki treatment.

Reiki Level 2 - 2 days

Reiki 2 is a 2 day course building upon the teachings of Reiki Level One and continuing with your self development. You will need to complete case studies before you receive your certification for your insurance to work with paying clients, should you wish to.

At present there is very little regulation of Reiki or indeed any complementary therapy, and we wish to offer you the choice to train at a professional level or to continue with the “old style” training as I undertook in 2015.

What does this mean for you as a student?

With the full reiki practitioner qualification, you will be able to register with the CNHC, which is the gold standard for practitioners, with no extra cost, training, or accreditation process for yourself.

The training meets all of the criteria, minimum training hours, case studies and practice development for you to set up a professional private practice, work within an NHS healthcare setting or private health clinic.

What if you choose to study Reiki 2 as a stand-alone module (ie “old style”)

This is still perfectly acceptable, but you will need to obtain the additional hours to meet the criteria for the CNHC in the future. This is currently optional, but may become mandatory in the future. You can still charge for reiki and work as reiki therapist and obtain insurance.

So, in summary I don’t want my students to have to apply for accreditation (and pay extra for this process) for any of my courses as I have already done the work for you.

The choice is yours!!

You can choose to enrol on the full programme now or book reiki 2 and add the additional modules at a later date, the programme is designed to be flexible to meet your needs. However, priority places will be given to those students enrolled on the full 9-month practitioner programme.

Payment

Please note that payment plan options are available to spread the cost throughout the year. The cost includes training venue, materials, face to face teaching, marking case studies, assessments, certification, graduation, and lunch is of course included. There will be a closed FB group or WhatsApp group to share experiences, materials and access to my expertise also.

This is an investment in your future Reiki journey, and your personal development. Working to the highest standards whilst maintaining the spiritual, heart centred energy of Reiki as Mikao Usui would have intended. We invite outside speakers on the development days such as marketing experts, sound healers and other wonderful energy practitioners! There will also be opportunities for reiki sharing on development days, in line with best practice.

Meet the team

Andi Amis

Co-owner and founder of Barefoot Soul Sanctuary since 2016, Andi started her Reiki journey in 2015. Whilst working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Emergency Department Manager in the NHS, Andi became aware that she was not living a life that was aligned to her core beliefs and became disillusioned with the “system”.

In 2014 she booked herself onto a yoga retreat in the South of France for a week, and that was the beginning of a beautiful albeit challenging journey into self-discovery and self-healing. Reiki was the first healing modality that she trained in and is still one of the most popular treatments or “tools” in her toolkit.

Andi is a Reiki Master Teacher, and her Reiki training has achieved accreditation and verification with the UK Reiki Federation and approval from the CNHC. She is passionate about training students that will be compassionate and competent to hold space for clients who often visit us at the most vulnerable time in their lives.

Andi is qualified and insured in the following modalities:

  • Registered Nurse (BSc hons) Retired in 2021
  • Teaching & Assessing (ENB 998)
  • Reiki Master Teacher
  • Reflexology Level 5 (CNHC registered)
  • Breathwork Facilitator (Trained with Integrative Breath)
  • Shamanic Practitioner (studied 3 years with Northern Drum and 1 year with Ruth Cato – Women’s Shamanism)
  • Emotional Freedom Technique with EFT & Mindfulness centre

Andi regularly hosts group breathwork events and retreats which focus on wellbeing, self-healing, and resilience. She is a trauma informed practitioner, empowering others to take ownership of their own healing journey. Andi works closely with her business partner and husband Neil who will be supporting her on this reiki practitioner training.

Neil Amis

Neil has been an integral part of Barefoot Soul since its inception, he works primarily in the background supporting Andi logistically and spiritually, he has been key to developing this course using his previous educational experiences. He has been on a healing journey for many years now which has incorporated Reiki in which he trained in 2017. Neil is an intuitive healer with a vast knowledge of holistic wellbeing, which he balances with his current job within the NHS. As a paramedic, a role which he has been in now for over 20 years, he has been met with many challenges and stresses and has gone from purely surviving to thriving. This, he attributes to his exploration of his own mind and body through the medium of spirituality. He is trauma informed and has experience of supporting people in mental health crisis through his work as a senior peer support advisor and advocate within his organisation.

He is a passionate trainer with well over 30 years of experience delivering both structured formal, and ad hoc training to national standards. He is a mentor to paramedic students supporting their work-based development. He has designed many bespoke training courses that he has delivered to his peers and volunteers alike. His energy about education is infectious and his relaxed engaging presence comes across in his teaching.

As Neil holds a teaching & assessing qualification (NVQ C23,24 and D32) he will be delivering some of the training, such as Anatomy & Physiology for example and may be the assessor for some of your assessments.
